Dealing with Common Dental Emergencies

Dental emergencies are not typically treated in emergency rooms, but they do often require urgent care to manage the pain and reduce the risk of long-term problems. Our Huntington Beach dentist can help you deal with common dental emergencies and restore your dental health.

Common dental emergencies include:

  1. Toothache

Carefully floss or use an interdental cleaner to clean around the tooth, and rinse your mouth with warm water. Call us if the pain continues.

  1. Chipped, cracked, or broken teeth

Rinse your mouth with warm water to flush out any debris, use a cold compress to manage swelling, and call us immediately. You might need a root canal treatment to remove the damaged tissue inside of the tooth and a crown to protect it from more damage.

  1. A knocked-out or dislocated tooth

Rinse any debris from your mouth using warm water, and use a cold compress to reduce swelling. Rinse the tooth by holding it gently by the crown, and place it in a cup of milk or a tooth preservation kit. Do not store it in water, but do keep it wet. Call us immediately.

Be sure to keep the information for our emergency dentist in Huntington Beach on hand in case these or any other emergencies occur.
